Mr. Michael Dompreh-Ampofo is a distinguished Mechanical Engineering and Procurement Specialist with a wealth of experience in project management, public sector infrastructure development, and international donor-funded projects.

His extensive career includes significant tenure at the Ministry of Roads and Highways, where he served as a Counterpart Procurement Manager and Mechanical Specialist within the Project Management Unit (PMU). In this role, he was instrumental in managing a multi-donor facility of USD 300 million dedicated to road maintenance and rehabilitation across Ghana. His responsibilities encompassed the end-to-end procurement of goods, management of equipment, and the implementation of projects funded by the World Bank, ADB, and other international partners for the Ghana Highways Authority, and the Departments of Feeder and Urban Roads.

Prior to this, Mr. Dompreh-Ampofo was the Mechanical Engineer and Procurement Specialist (Head of Equipment & Transport) at the Department of Urban Roads. There, he managed a large fleet of vehicles and heavy engineering equipment, overseeing their procurement, maintenance, and distribution to support urban road networks nationwide.

Recognized for his expertise, he has frequently served as a resource person on procurement best practices. He has lectured on “Writing of Technical Specifications” for international procurement practitioners at GIMPA and for officials from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Local Government, and Non-Bank Financial Institutions, under the sponsorship of organizations including the World Bank and the ILO.

His service extends to several high-level committees, including a three-time appointment to Inter-Ministerial Committees on Metro Mass Transit Ltd. and a former role as Chairman of the Technical Sub-Committee for Contractors Classification at the Ministry of Roads and Highways.

Mr. Dompreh-Ampofo is a member of the GhIE Executive Committee and Council, bringing his profound practical experience in engineering, procurement, and project implementation to his role on the Engineering Council Board.
