The Board executes its mandate through six (6) technical standing Committees. The Committees are Chaired by members of the Board and the remaining members are nominated by the Licensed Bodies.   

Licensing and Registration Committee (L&R)

The Licensing and Registration Committee plays a pivotal role in upholding the integrity of Ghana’s engineering sector. Through a structured regulatory framework, we ensure transparent processes for certification, clear practice boundaries, and up-to-date practitioner records—all designed to maintain public confidence and professional excellence. Below are the key functions guiding this critical work:

  1. Ensure that Licensing Bodies are duly licensed to certify practitioners for registration.
  2. Maintain the list of registers and publish the same
  3. Determine limits to areas of engineering practice for engineering practitioners
  4. Ensure that approved criteria for licensing are established and published.
  5. Ensure that Licensing Bodies submit duly vetted list of practitioners to the Council.
  6. Ensure that every engineering practitioner, certified by the licensed body is issued with a certificate.

Standards and Professional Practice Committee (SPPC)

The Standards and Professional Practice Committee ensures engineering excellence in Ghana through the core regulatory functions:

  1. Regulate the practice of engineering.
  2.  Monitor the performance of practitioners.
  3. Ensure applicable local and international standards are adhered to.

Disciplinary, Legal and Ethics Committee (DLE)

The Disciplinary, Legal and Ethics Committee upholds integrity in Ghana’s engineering profession through two fundamental mandates:

  1. Ensure ethical practice.
  2. Exercise disciplinary power over practitioners.

Education and Training Committee (E&T)

The Education and Training Committee establishes the foundation for engineering competence through four critical standardization functions:

  1.  Develop criteria for accreditation of different levels of engineering education.
  2. Collaborate with National Accreditation Board and other bodies to certify engineering education programmes
  3. Collaborate with National Accreditation Board and other bodies to certify engineering education programmes
  4. Determine requirements for registration

Public and International Affairs Committee (PIAC)

The Public and International Affairs Committee strengthens the Council’s reach and partnerships through core external engagement functions:

  1. Undertake Public Sensitization and Advocacy for the Council.
  2. Seek sponsorship and grants both internally and externally to support Council activities
  3. Affiliate with external equivalent professional councils and bodies with similar objectives

Finance and Administration Committee (F&A)

The Finance and Administration Committee ensures institutional sustainability through core financial and human resource oversight functions:

  1.  It will define the staff requirements in terms of grade, qualification, and training requirements to ensure that staff are competent, efficient, and committed.
  2. It is responsible for structures to ensure proper financial management of the Council.
  3. It will set up the necessary structures to ensure that finances are
    properly audited and reported to the Council.
