The Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989) operationalizes Article 21(1)(f) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, empowering citizens to access information from public institutions, including the Engineering Council. This law ensures transparency in engineering regulation, licensing, and standards development.
(1) An application to access information from the Engineering Council shall:
(a) be made in writing to the Engineering Council,
(b) contain sufficient description or particulars to enable identification of the information,
(c) indicate the form and manner of access required,
(d) specify to whom the application is made, if applying on behalf of another person,
(e) state the name of the applicant and an address for correspondence,
(f) provide valid identification of the applicant; and
(g) be signed by the applicant.
(2) Where an applicant is unable to write due to illiteracy or disability, the request may be made orally.
(3) For oral requests under sub-section (2), the Information Officer shall:
