Engineering Council Congratulates Ing. Prof. Kwabena Biritwum Nyarko on FAEO Appointment
Date:

The Engineering Council congratulates Ing. Professor Kwabena Biritwum Nyarko on his appointment as Chair of the Engineering Education Committee of the Federation of African Engineering Organisations (FAEO) for the 2026 to 2029 term.

Ing. Prof. Nyarko is a member of the Fourth Board of the Engineering Council, where he serves as Chairman of the Licensing and Registration Committee. His work in that role has been central to the Council’s efforts to strengthen the regulation and recognition of engineering practice in Ghana.

The FAEO appointment follows the approval by the FAEO Executive Council of a proposal led under his guidance for Ghana to host the Engineering Education Committee, a significant outcome that positions the country at the centre of shaping how engineering is taught and practised across Africa.

Ing. Prof. Nyarko is Provost of the College of Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he has spent over three decades in academia and professional engineering. His work in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene has shaped policy and influenced service delivery across several African countries. At KNUST, his leadership has helped raise over US$25 million in research and capacity-building grants, doubled the College’s endowment fund, and grown its alumni network to more than 16,000 members.

This appointment is a well-deserved recognition of a career built on impact and service. The Engineering Council is proud to have him on the Board and wishes him every success in this new continental role.
